Thursday August 19th, 2010 10:22 Robin Pecknold Tour Documentary
Last week Seattle-based Fleet Foxes released a short documentary of frontman Robin Pecknold’s recent tour opening for Joanna Newsom. Directed by his brother Sean, the video showcases Pecknold’s stunning work under his solo moniker White Antelope. Perhaps more than any other bearded folkie today, Robin is deftly aware of himself as part of a greater musical tradition. The video highlights Pecknold seamlessly intertwining his own work with traditional ballads, “Look Down That Lonesome Road” and “Silver Dagger,” as well as Jackson C. Frank’s 1965 classic “The Blues Run The Game.” The doc ends with “Blue Spotted Tail,” a new Fleet Foxes tune that could easily be mistaken for a song passed down by a previous generation. Check out the tour doc after the jumpĀ and make sure to grab Pecknold’s version of “Silver Dagger” below.
