Feist: Look At What The Light Did Now

Posted on

Feist has a new documentary DVD out. I’m sure many of you already know this. The film recounts the making of her Grammy nominated album¬†The Reminder (Cherry Tree)¬†and it’s ensuing tour, while highlighting the collaborators who helped bring the project together.

Being a little slow on the up take, it took me a little while to realize that she grabbed the title of her new film from a song by the highly underrated folk outfit Little Wings (aka Kyle Field). “Look At What The Light Did Now” has been a personal favorite ever since hearing it in Chris Malloy’s 2004 surf film, A Brokedown Meoldy (check out the clip here). As expected, Feist nails the cover of the melodic folk tune on the her DVD’s bonus disc. Download both versions below and watch a trailer for the documentary after the jump.

MP3: Shakira: Islands (XX)

Shakira covers the xx. Wait, what?

MP3: James Blake: Limit To Your Love (Feist)

This one is kind of weird, so for it to really resinate give the original a few listens. I’ve been singing this song nonstop for a week.

MP3: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.: God Only Knows (The Beach Boys)

Nothing could top the original “God Only Knows,” but this is the next best thing. Oh and I love this band’s name.

MP3: jj: Ceo Birthday (Birthday Sex)

When I first heard this one, it took me a little while to realize what I was listening to. The only thing that’s missing is that sexy refrain… birthday sex, birthday sex. Where’s Jeremih when you need him?
