Man it is good to have Feist back in my life. Things are always a bit lighter with her around. Stream her feisty new album Metals below.
I’m seeing Georgia’s Futurebirds tonight in Jackson Hole and keeping my fingers crossed that they close their set with a rendition of Stevie Nicks’ “Wild Heart.” The track is featured on the band’s latest EP Via Flamina, available via their bandcamp page. The song is one of my favorite covers of the year. Download the tune below and catch the birds on tour this fall.
“Green Aisles” is the latest offering from Real Estate’s sophomore LP Days, due October 18th on Domino. The wistfully mellow track is slightly more understated than the previously released “It’s Real,” but perfect for that first fall morning drive. Download “Green Aisles” below and pre-order the new album here.
fun. formed from the ashes of The Format. You may recall The Format for their effortless ability to make fun pop music. You also may cringe (or weep with nostalgia) when you remember they featured in Laguna Beach. Either way fun. are back after a stellar debut with a new song that continues their excellent run at creating catchy adorable tunes. Grab “We Are Young” below and feel free to watch the video here. Extra points if you can give me an explanation on what is going on in that video….
Beautiful stuff. Check out the full length here.
With heavy soul, electric blues riffs, and Brittany Howard’s dynamite vocals, Alabama Shakes (formally just The Shakes) were one of my favorite new discoveries of the summer. The Alabama crew has been gaining lots of attention over the past couple of months and are keeping things rolling with the release of their self-titled debut EP. The group appears to be throwing together a tour in support. According to their facebook page, “There will be sweat. There will be uncontrollable toe tappin’, neck snappin’ and attention grabbin’. There will be some rockin’.” I couldn’t be more excited. Get on board by streaming/purchasing the new EP below via bandcamp.
