Via jj’s blog and the always mysterious Sincerely Yours record label comes a new special club track featuring Elin Kastlander (from jj). As always jj graced us with a crystal clear message with the song:
KEEP IT REAL!
KEEP IT PURE!
THIS IS WHAT YOU GET IF YOU MESS WITH US
Stones Throw held a contest where people could pick any track from the label’s catalog and make their own video edit to go along with it. Tuomas Vauhkonen and Jeremias Nieminen produced this visual for Dilla’s Last Donut of the Night, one of my all-time favorite recordings, from the late producer’s widely celebrated, classic 2006 album Donuts.
Here’s a new track from The Weeknd. “Trust Issues” is most likely off his upcoming mixtape, Thursday, rumored to be dropping this Thursday (6/30). The stellar production on this Drake remix features moody synths and sparse drums which create a dark backdrop for his striking vocals (via The Weeknd’s tumblr).
New Wilco for your weekend. “I Might” is the first taste of the band’s eighth LP, recently titled The Whole Love (due in September). The track is paired with a cover of Nick Lowe’s “I Love My Label.” It is a fitting b-side considering that this is the first music to be released on the group’s new self-owned record label, dBpm Records. Stream both tracks below and pre-order the new single here (via The Line Of Best Fit).
Someone’s been listening to David Bowie… Check out this new Coldplay track titled Moving To Mars. For those of you who were not impressed with their first single, this might be a bit more up your alley.
Check out the studio version of Major Minus after the jump.
A while back we posted a video of Bon Iver performing a Bonnie Raitt cover on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Well, now a studio version of the sad sad sad song is being released as a B-side to Calgary. This guy can do no wrong…
UPDATE: Bon Iver visited Fallon again last night to promote the new album. Watch Vernon & the band play “Holocene” after the jump!
