Vetiver: Can’t You Tell

Posted on

Psych-folk rockers Vetiver have just dropped the first single from their forthcoming LP The Errant Charm. For “Can’t You Tell” the group has ditched their folky roots for a more percussive/tropical pop sound. The absence of guitars is a surprise, but I’m digging the change of direction. Stream the the new track below (hand over your email for the mp3) and look for The Errant Charm via Sub Pop on June 14th. Full tracklist after the jump.

Fleet Foxes: Grown Ocean

Check out this beautiful music video for Fleet Foxes’ new album closer “Grown Ocean.” This is arguably the best album I’ve heard in a long long time, and if you haven’t purchased it yet do yourself a favor and do so… here. Can’t wait until May 17th when I see them live.

Young Empires // Daytrotter Session

Young Empires stopped by Daytrotter this past week and performed a few new tunes. As I previously stated, I expect great things from this band in 2011. They’ll be preforming 4 shows in early April in Buffalo, Boston, New York, and Quebec. I will be in attendance. You should be as well.

MP3: Adele: Last Night (The Strokes)

With Adele breaking chart records and The Strokes back in a big way, this cover is especially fitting.

MP3: James Vincent McMorrow: Whip My Hair (Willow Smith)

We love us some McMorrow here at Sloane. Have you purchased his album yet?

MP3: John Legend: Rolling In The Deep (Adele)

Rolling In The Deep is one of my favorite singles of the year thus far. I applaud this cover.

MP3: Broken Social Scene: Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division)

This will give you wet nightmares.

Starfucker: Julius (Painted Palms Remix)

After spending some time with Starfucker’s latest release I have to say they have some solidified  jams on Reptilians. Julius being one of those. The band may have a silly name and they may dress up in silly costumes while on stage, but I think dance pop should be silly. I am also all about dressing up in whigs while lighting up dance floors in Boston, so maybe I am not the best judge. Decide yourself then….

K.R.I.T. just released his new project Returnof4eva, for which he handled all the production himself:

I am proud to present “Return Of 4eva” to all my supporters, I took the past year to work on this project. I reached out to some of my favorite artists that I felt represented what this album was about. Ludacris, Bun B, David Banner, Chamillionaire, Big Sant, Joi & Raheem Devaughn all helped me to make my vision of this album complete. I hope you all love it. Download it for free at stay blessed.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.: Morning Thought

Posted on

I’m still not sold on their name (sorry Dan), but there is little doubt in my mind that Detroit-based, NASCAR aficionados Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will reach Passion Pit-level buzz when their debut album, It’s A Corporate World, drops this summer. The duo, Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein, displayed brilliant pop sensibilities on their 2010 EP Horse Power and with “Morning Thought,” the first taste of the new album, they seem to expand on their prowess in every way. Download the new track below and get excited for It’s A Corporate World, out June 7th courtesy of Quite Scientific Records.
